Job Summary:
The Patient Care Tech works as an integral part of the patient care team providing routine administrative and clerical duties at and around the nursing station, providing prompt and courteous service to patients, families, physicians, staff and public alike. Helps to monitor and facilitate activities at the nursing station and performs tasks necessary to maintain proper flow of patient care and related documentation.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must have basic computer proficiency, ability to use a multi-line phone system. Performs phlebotomy tasks as needed.
Certifications: Must successfully complete PCT training during the first month of employment. Must obtain BLS Healthcare Provider upon hire.
Licenses:
Minimum Work Experience: Experience in Medical Terminology preferred. Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are required. Must have experience in administrative support and or receptionist duties.
Essential Functions:
Under the supervision of physician or nurse (RN), assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. Must have experience in administrative support and or receptionist duties. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a stressful environment. Must have basic computer proficiency, ability to use a multi-line phone system.
